A 5-Minute Makeup Routine: 5 Simple Steps for Every Day
Some mornings there is simply no time for a full face of makeup. The good news is that five minutes and a few products are enough to look fresh, awake and put together. Here is a simple routine you can repeat every day.
Step 1: A light base (1 minute)
Skip heavy coverage. Dab a little concealer only where you need it, usually under the eyes and around the nose, and blend with your fingertips or a sponge. If your skin feels good, that is all the base you need.
Step 2: Blush (1 minute)
This is the step that makes the biggest difference. Smile, place a soft cream or powder blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards toward the temples. A peach or soft pink shade looks natural on most days.
Step 3: Brows (1 minute)
Brush your brows upwards with a clear or tinted brow gel. Brushing them up and setting them gives your face a neat, polished frame in seconds.
Step 4: Mascara (1 minute)
One or two coats on the top lashes are enough. Wiggle the wand at the base of the lashes, then pull upwards to open up the eyes.
Step 5: Lip colour (1 minute)
Finish with a tinted balm, a soft lipstick or a gloss. Choose a shade close to your natural lip colour so it blends with the blush and looks effortless.
Quick recap
- Base: concealer only where needed
- Blush: apples of the cheeks, blended up
- Brows: brushed up with gel
- Mascara: one or two coats
- Lips: a soft, natural shade
Small tips to save time
- Keep the five products together in one small pouch.
- Use your fingertips to blend cream products. It is faster than a brush.
- Check your face in daylight if you can, so the blush does not end up too strong.
